Matchup vs Toronto FC II
Sunday’s matchup with Toronto FC II will be the third between the two teams this season, with the series tied 1-1. Toronto earned three points in a 2-0 win over the Coywolves on May 16th, but CT United responded with a 4-2 win in Toronto on June 14th behind a Daniel D’Ippolito brace.
CT United’s Impressive Form
After a rocky start to its inaugural season, the Coywolves have picked up 14 points in their last seven games. The surge has pulled them within three points of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Coywolves have a real chance to make the playoffs in their first year, a feat only accomplished by three expansion franchises in the past two seasons.
Standout Coywolves
Several players have contributed to the recent success of the Coywolves. Forward Barnabas Tanyi has led the way, adding a goal and two assists to his tally last week. Tanyi ranks fifth in MLS Next Pro with 8 goals and ninth with 11 goals + assists this season. Tanyi’s runs in behind and clinical finishing make him one of the league’s most dangerous attacking threats.
Forward Daniel D’Ippolito has also been red hot leading the offensive charge for the Coywolves. D’Ippolito contributed a goal and an assist against Carolina, heading into Sunday’s upcoming matchup with three goals and three assists in his last four games. D’Ippolito has played his way into major minutes for CT United. His consistent driving of the attack and important play in the final third has anchored a Coywolves offense that has scored 12 goals in their last four games.
Midfielder Dylan Lacy put together his most complete performance of the season last week against Carolina. Lacy created two chances and hit the woodwork with a shot while completing 87% of his passes. He also contributed defensively with five tackles and an interception. Lacy has been a stalwart for Shavar Thomas and the Coywolves, having played a full 90 minutes in each of the last seven matches. The 21-year old’s stamina and physicality have been a major asset for the Coywolves on both sides of the ball.
Coywolves Night
CT United FC will celebrate Coywolves Night during Sunday's match against Toronto FC II at Reese Stadium, highlighting the club's growing supporter culture and inviting fans to help create one of the league's most exciting home atmospheres. Supporters can expect chants, traditions, and interactive matchday experiences designed to bring the Pack together. As part of the celebration, all General Admission tickets will be available for $18—the same price as the Supporters Section—encouraging fans from across the stadium to join the Pack and help make Reese Stadium a true home-field advantage.
