Matchweek 11's MLS NEXT Pro version of the Hudson River Derby may not have gone Red Bull New York II's way, but statements were still made.
Coming off the bench, RBNY Academy forward Christian Gallagher sparked a late rally that threatened a comeback in a 3-2 loss to NYCFC II.
For his second professional goal, the 18-year-old looked like a seasoned vet when he took a loose ball off the chest and rifled in his own volley from the top of the box, taking Goal of the Matchweek crown in the process.
Gallagher took 58% of the vote for this week's honor, beating out Portland Timbers2's Colin Griffith (23%), Darris Hyte of Chicago Fire II (12%), and Chattanooga FC's Tate Robertson (7%).
