HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Sep. 20, 2026) -Huntsville City FC closed the 2026 regular season with a 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls II on Sunday afternoon, securing three points and a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Play-In Round.
Sunday’s match was the first meeting between Huntsville City FC and New York Red Bulls II in 2026 and served as the final regular-season match for both clubs.
The teams played to a scoreless draw through the first half before Huntsville broke through in the 48th minute. Zidane Yáñez opened the scoring to give the Boys in Blue a 1-0 lead.
Huntsville extended its advantage in the 81st minute when Malachi Molina found the back of the net, putting the home side ahead 2-0.
New York Red Bulls II responded in the 90+1st minute, but Huntsville held on through the final whistle to claim the 2-1 victory.
The result, combined with outcomes from other Eastern Conference matches on Decision Day, moved Huntsville City FC into the No. 9 seed and secured the club a place in the Play-In Round of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
