Huntsville City FC earned a 4-1 victory over Inter Miami II Sunday night, securing three points and keeping its playoff hopes alive heading into Decision Day.
Sunday’s match marked the third and final regular-season meeting between the two sides. Huntsville previously defeated Miami 4-2 in the first meeting and 2-0 in the second.
The Boys in Blue came out firing, with Zidane Yáñez finding the back of the net in the 14th minute before adding his second goal of the night in the 25th minute. The brace brought Yáñez to seven goals on the season.
Jordan Knight added to Huntsville’s lead before halftime, scoring his fourth goal of the season to send HCFC into the break with a 3-0 advantage.
Inter Miami II pulled one back in the 82nd minute, but Huntsville quickly answered. Malachi Molina found the back of the net to restore the three-goal lead and close out the 4-1 victory. The goal marked Molina’s eighth of the season.
With the win, Huntsville City FC remains in the playoff race and will head into Decision Day with everything on the line.
Huntsville will close out the regular season next Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. CT against New York Red Bulls II.
