2025 MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 18: Gavin Turner

It took just a couple of matches for Chattanooga FC's Gavin Turner to make his mark in MLS NEXT Pro after earning Goal of Matchweek 18 honors for his strike against Philadelphia Union II.

With the match tied late in the first half, Turner capitalized on a free kick opportunity outside the Union II box. Daniel Mangarov laid the ball off, and Turner stepped up and launched a left-footed rocket from 22 yards out that got past goalkeeper Andrew Rick.

Despite Chattanooga FC ultimately falling in the shootout following a 3-3 draw, Turner’s goal and performance during the game reinforced why he’s considered one of D.C. United’s most promising prospects.

Before being loaned to Chattanooga FC for the rest of the 2025 season, Turner made his MLS debut earlier this year for D.C. United, appearing as substitute against Chicago Fire FC on June 7.

A product of the Black-and-Red academy system since 2017, the Fairfax, Virginia native became the club’s 21st Homegrown after signing in February of 2025.

After a couple of weeks without a victory, Chattanooga FC will now look to get back to their winning ways when they face off against Inter Miami II on July 19.
