It’s been quite the week for Mykhi Joyner.
First, the CITY2 forward lit up the scoreboard with a four-goal haul against Timbers2, earning MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 11 honors.
Then came a call-up to the U.S. U-19 Men's National Team camp.
Now, he’s capped it all off by taking home the Goal of the Matchweek award.
Joyner’s award-winning strike took place in the 51st minute of CITY2’s match against Timbers2, having already scored two penalty goals by that point.
After receiving a headed pass near the midfield, Joyner took off down the left wing, saw the Timbers2 keeper off his line and launched a looping shot from near the sideline that sailed into the net and sent the fans at Energizer park into a frenzy.
St Louis CITY2 went on to cruise to a 6-2 win, with Joyner accounting for four of those goals.
Signed to a Homegrown contract with St Louis CITY SC in July of 2024, Joyner has been the focal point of CITY2's attack this season and is now tied for third in MLS NEXT Pro in goals scored with eight.
Other Goal of Matchweek 11 nominees included Sebastiano Musu (NYCFC II), Moisés Véliz (Huntsville City FC), and Matthew Dos Santos (NYRB II).
Up next for CITY2 is a rematch of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Final as they host North Texas SC at Energizer Park on June 4.
