Carolina Core FC Tryout General Information
How old do you need to be to participate in tryouts?
Trialists must be 15 years or older.
Who can participate in open tryouts?
Tryouts are open to eligible males, 15 years or older.
Carolina Core FC also offers tryouts for athletes under the age of 15 for the club’s MLS Next programs. Academy tryouts for the 2025 season will be announced spring 2025.
I am not a United States citizen or a Permanent Resident. Can I still participate in tryouts?
You do not need to be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident to participate in Carolina Core FC’s open tryouts. However, any international trialist is responsible, at such trialist’s sole cost and expense, for complying with all immigration laws applicable to making a visit to the United States to participate in the tryouts, including procurement of a non-immigrant visa to permit such a visit.
How does the tryout impact college eligibility?
College athletes wishing to try out should check with their school’s NCAA compliance officer and college coach to make sure the tryout will not affect their eligibility. Different states have different regulations regarding tryouts and Carolina Core FC will not take responsibility regarding your NCAA eligibility. Please make such inquiries with your school’s NCAA compliance officer and college coach prior to signing up for Carolina Core FC Tryouts.
Do I need an agent to participate?
No, Carolina Core FC open tryouts are open to any interested athlete.
I have asthma, will this stop me from participating?
No, but we do recommend that you alert your coach and athletic trainer of this or any other ailment before warm up’s and have your inhaler or other medication close-by.

Will Carolina Core FC provide hotel accommodation?
No, each trialist is solely responsible for all accommodation bookings and costs.
What is your refund policy?
Registration is non-refundable, non-exchangeable, and non-transferrable.
Tryouts Format & Information
What do I need to bring to tryouts?
All players must bring appropriate footwear – tryouts may be held on either synthetic turf or natural grass, or both. You will also be expected to wear soccer socks, athletic shorts/pants, and shin guards. Check weather reports and bring appropriate wear, including towels or sunscreen.
What is the inclement weather policy?
Tryouts will go ahead rain or shine. However, in the case of severe weather (i.e., flooding or lightning), tryouts may be delayed or rescheduled. Trialists will be responsible for all unforeseen costs incurred due to this event.
Will there be any transportation to and from the tryouts?
No, each trialist is solely responsible for all accommodation bookings, transportation, and costs.
Will food be provided?
Lunch (Deli Sandwiches *Subject To Change) & water will be provided.
Will there be trainers or medical personnel onsite in case of injuries?
Yes, an athletic trainer will be onsite throughout tryouts.
Can my friends and family watch?
Yes, spectators will be allowed inside the facility. But will be restricted from the pitch.
Who will be at the tryouts?
In addition to Carolina Core FC coaching staff, the club may invite local coaches and others to the tryout. This increases visibility for the players and helps those coaches recruit.
What is the call-back procedure and when is the next round?
Trialists will be notified by either email or phone in the event they are invited back.
What if I am not a United States citizen or Permanent Resident?
Should you impress our coaching staff enough to be offered a professional contract, upon execution and delivery of such contract, Carolina Core FC would undertake to procure for you the necessary non-immigrant visa to play professionally in the United States for Carolina Core FC. Depending on the terms of your contract, Carolina Core FC also may elect to pay all, or a portion of the costs associated with procuring such a visa. Carolina Core FC cannot guarantee any outcome of any immigration procedure undertaken.
