Carolina Core FC enters this match following a 3-1 loss to FC Cincinnati 2 on Matchday 14 of this MLS NEXT Pro season.
CCFC started the game well, scoring an early goal from forward Josuha Rodriguez. Midfielder Jacob Evans took a quick corner, passing it to midfielder Facundo Canete. The Argentinian midfielder dribbled past a man and chipped a ball into the six yard box, where Rodriguez was there to head it in for the goal.
This was Canete’s fourth assist of the season, while Rodriguez’s goal was his first in MLS NEXT Pro, and third in all competitions.
FC Cincinnati 2 would respond quickly, with a deflected shot falling to defender Brian Schaefer. The 27th overall draft pick in this year’s MLS Superdraft would head the ball past goalkeeper Alex Sutton to make it 1-1 going into the half.
FCC2 would score two more goals in the second half, with wingbacks Jesús Castellano and Amir Daley scoring twice in three minutes to put the game out of reach for the Foxes.

In the first matchup of the two independent clubs in Matchweek 7 of the MLSNP season, Chattanooga would go on to win, 2-0.
Chattanooga scored in the seventh minute with a goal from winger Jesús Ibarra.
Midfielder Callum Wilson picked up the ball outside the 18 yard box, and slid the ball into Ibarra’s path. The 26-year-old would slide the ball into the bottom right corner to give CFC the lead.
Chattanooga would score again in the 76th minute, thanks to a goal from defender Milo Garvanian. CFC winger Taylor Gray dribbled down the touchline and played it back to the former UNC defender, who fired a shot into the top left corner for the final goal of the game.

Chattanooga FC is going into this game following a 2-2 draw against Orlando City B, where CFC would go on to win the penalty shootout 4-2. This was Chattanooga’s sixth penalty shootout in MLSNP this season, and their fourth time getting the extra point, a league high so far this season.
CFC are tied for fifth in most goals in MLS NEXT Pro this season. Forward Mehdi Ouamri leads the team with six goals on the season, which is tied for fourth most in the league.
Midfielder Taylor Gray has also contributed to Chattanooga’s success this season, tallying seven assists this season, which is tied for the most in the league.
